What started as a group of mobile entrepreneurs who travelled to Japan together to learn about the Japanese mobile industry, is now a global organization which connects the biggest names in the mobile industry across geographies and verticals. With offices and staff in China, Silicon Valley, Japan and India, GWC has emerged as the leading membership-based networking organization for decision makers in various mobile-related verticals.
We are very excited to have reached this milestone in our journey. To celebrate, we hosted a sixth anniversary dinner last week in Beijing with the GWC team.
GWC membership has grown to a network of more than 250 members across geographies and sectors. Our members include some of the biggest names in the mobile internet and technology industry including Tencent, Xiaomi, HTC, Sina, Baidu, Microsoft, Singtel Innov8, Zynga, InMobi and Qualcomm among many others.
To enable CEOs and decision makers from different markets to connect with each other, GWC has organized various industry visits to the U.S., Korea and Japan. GWC has also organized 7 editions of our flagship conference, GMIC in China and the U.S. with a combined attendance of more than 100,000 people. For six years, GMIC has been devoted to exploring cross-border cooperation. As such, GMIC is the launch pad for many companies entering China like Evernote, Flipboard, Halfbrick (Fruit Ninja), Rovio (Angry Birds) and InMobi among others.
GMIC expanded to the U.S. and organized GMIC Silicon Valley in 2012 which enabled Chinese and U.S. companies to explore respective markets and build connections. Building upon its success, GMIC will be launching two new conferences in 2014: GMIC Tokyo in July and GMIC New Delhi in September.
GMIC Beijing will be the biggest ever this year with more than 10000 expected attendees. The conference theme, Mobilizing the Next 5 Billion, will explore opportunities and challenges as mobile becomes the first access point for the next wave of technology consumers. This year’s speakers include Yuri Milner, Founder, DST Global; Pony Ma, CEO, Tencent; Dave Morin, CEO, Path; Charles Chao, CEO, Sina; Naveen Tewari, CEO, InMobi; Chen Haozhi, CEO, Chukong; Yu Yongfu, CEO, UCWeb; Lei Jun, CEO, Xiaomi; Hugo Barra, VP, Xiaomi; Isao Moriyasu, CEO, DeNA.
