iPhone 4S Sales Slowing in South Korea

Despite the success of sales in Hong Kong and Singapore, South Korea’s interest in the iPhone 4S seems to already be calming down. The Korea Times reports that Apple authorized operators in the country of noted an increase in order cancellations and a slowing of sales.

HTC Cuts Revenue Forecast by 23%

HTC recently warned investors that their revenues in the coming quarter will not be what they were originally expecting due to increased competition in the smartphone market and global macroeconomic downturn. They cut the estimates by around 23%. The company believes that the company will pick back up and continue to grow in the beginning of 2012.

China Pases U.S. in Size of Smartphone Market by Volume

According to one firm’s analysis, China has surpassed the U.S. as the biggest smartphone market in terms of volume. Almost 24 million smartphones were shipped to Chinese providers in the third quarter of 2011 and the fantastic growth of the Chinese smartphone market is up an incredible 58% from the previous quarter. These estimates are only based on the number of devices shipped, not sold. The U.S. still leads in actual revenue generated by smartphone sales.

“Microsoft is Officially Kicking the Tires at Yahoo Again”

Microsoft just signed a nondisclosure agreement with Yahoo. Microsoft attempted to buy control of the company back in 2008. Today, Yahoo is in an even rougher position than three years ago having fallen far behind companies like Google and Facebook. Despite, this acquiring Yahoo is still a beneficial since its news site attracting 81.2 million unique visitors in August. The signing of the nondisclosure agreement does not suggest that Microsoft is planning on acquiring Yahoo itself.

Nexon IPO Coming in Early December

According to VentureBeat that the Nexon IPO will likely occur on December 6th in Japan. Nexon is the creator of games like MapleStory, Mabinogi, and Dungeon Fighter. And they recently worked with DeNA to bring MapleStory: Mokurano Boken to Mobage. The IPO is expected to raise $1.28 billion.
