GMIC Roadshow USA: China’s tech leaders on tour

The Global Mobile Internet Conference (GMIC), a conference hosted by the Great Wall Club,  will kick off a promotional event series for the conference this coming week by heading to the United States.  The “GMIC Roadshow” will bring 8 C-Level executives of leading mobile Internet companies in China to San Francisco as they visit companies, have lunch and dinner with various U.S. business heads, and participate in several events and conferences throughout the week.

GMIC Roadshow

The Global Mobile Internet Conference (GMIC) in Beijing is now the largest and most influential mobile internet conference in Asia drawing more that 5000 participants from 30 countries. There is no other event that draws the same level of speakers or provides the same level of insights on mobile business in Asia. Today, we are excited to announce that Americans will be able to experience the GMIC on a small scale without leaving the US through the GMIC Roadshow USA.

The GMIC Roadshow will bring some of the top GMIC speakers, who are China’s top mobile leaders, to Silicon Valley in order to study the industry, meet top leaders and find new business opportunities on November 5-12. The delegation includes:

Wang Jian, CTO, Alibaba (1688.HK) – The world’s largest online B2B trading platform for small businesses

Lei Jun, CEO, Xiaomi – China’s most famous angel investor and CEO of China’s “most ambitious startup”

Michael Song, CEO, Skymobi (MOBI)- China’s largest Android marketplace and recently IPO’d in the US

Wang Yong, CEO, DeNA China (2432.T) – DeNA is Japan’s largest mobile internet company and currently growing in China.

Wang Qiangyu, CEO, Duanqu– leading social network in China focused on the “short culture” of SMS, micro-blogs and media

Lin Bin, President, Xiaomi – Mobile handset manufacturer and app developer in China. China’s “most ambitious startup”.

Wenchu, CEO, GWC – Trip organizer, producer of The Global Mobile Internet Conference (GMIC)

Yiqun Bo, President, GWC China – Trip organizer, producer of The Global Mobile Internet Conference (GMIC)

Barrett Parkman, VP, GWC – Trip organizer, producer of The Global Mobile Internet Conference (GMIC)

Much of the delegation’s time will be spent in closed door meetings with top Silicon Valley companies but there will still be numerous ways to connect with them during the trip. Our two headline events, GMIC Roadshow SV and GMIC Roadshow SF will closely mirror the GMIC content by focusing on mobile trends and strategies in Asia and contrasting them with what is occurring in the US. These events will feature the delegation as speakers in addition to local tech leaders.

The GMIC Roadshow USA is an exceptional opportunity for Silicon Valley based companies to learn about opportunities in China, build relationships with top leaders and promote their initiatives in Asia without even leaving the Bay area.
